GOING TO PORTO
Porto, with its international airport, is served by various airlines that offer a large number of direct connections with Europe, Brazil, the United States and Canada.
Porto is also well connected with the main national highways, including those that connect with Spain (Fronteira de Quintanilha, Bragança, Chaves, Valença do Minho and Vilar Formoso...).
There are also regular bus connections with many cities in France, Switzerland, Luxembourg, Germany and Spain.
However, direct international train connections are no longer available. The train from Lisbon may be an option.

THE UNIVERSITY AND ITS SURROUNDINGS
The RFP2022 sessions will take place at the Faculty of Arts of the University of Porto (FLUP), in the Boavista/Campo Alegre neighborhood, very close to the Casa da Música. The University of Porto does not have a "classic" campus and its various faculties are mixed in the city with services, stores, restaurants, and houses. Near the FLUP, you will find two other faculties that during the day give this area of the city a very jovial atmosphere.
Some points of interest near the Faculty:
- Casa da Música, the concert house built in the early 1990s; the architecture is worth a visit (there are guided tours every day) and the musical programming is outstanding (https://www.casadamusica.com/). Near the avenue of France, celebrating the Franco-Portuguese friendship, and the Rotunda da Boavista, celebrating the defeat of Napoleon (after three unsuccessful attempts to invade Portugal during the Peninsular War).
- Miguel Bombarda. The area around Miguel Bombarda street is the arts district of Porto, where the main art galleries of the city and many specialized stores (including art and music bookstores and "alternative" stores and restaurants) are concentrated. The first Saturday of each month is famous for the openings and vernissages of all the galleries at once. Good choice of accommodation (hotels, guest houses, temporary apartments, ...) and restaurants. To visit: the Museum of Fine Arts (Museu Nacional Soares dos Reis - http://www.museusoaresdosreis.gov.pt/ ), with a very good collection of painters and sculptors of the "Porto School".
- Synagogue/Judaic Museum (http://www.comunidade-israelita-porto.org).
- Museu de Serralves (https://www.serralves.pt/). The main museum of contemporary art in Portugal, with a beautiful park and temporary exhibitions that attract visitors from the country and abroad.
- Cedofeita-Clerigos. Traditional neighborhood near the historical center, with traditional and new shops, restaurants, the most famous cafes of Porto, the most famous baroque churches of the city. In one square kilometer you will find the alleys of the old Jewish quarter, the remains of the medieval wall, the Lello Bookstore, the former central prison of the north (where the famous 19th century novelist Camilo Castelo Branco and Ana Plácido were imprisoned for "adultery") - now converted into the National Museum of Photography -, the Tower of the Clérigos (the ex-libris of Porto, which still houses a Benedictine monastery, the last monastery in town in Portugal), the "Galeries de Paris", which concentrates a good part of Porto's nightlife, and the University Rectorate. Not far away, the Passeio das Virtudes ("Walk of the Virtues"), with a magnificent view of the Douro, is another meeting place for the most extroverted night owls.
