Practical information > Accomodation

The main tourist booking sites will be able to help you find an accommodation according to your budget. If you book early, you will have a better chance of finding accommodation at a good price, especially in summer.

Below are some suggestions of hotels that are closest to FLUP (all within 10-15 minutes walking distance). There are of course other options outside of this area. The bus service in the city is well organized (but you should expect regular traffic jams...).

Hotels within a 10-15 minute walk of FLUP

(FLUP address: Faculdade de Letras da Universidade do Porto, Via Panorâmica, 4150-564 PORTO, Portugal)

HOTEL TUELA (***)

            https://www.hfhotels.com/pt/hoteis/hf-tuela-porto-pt/

Rua Arquiteto Marques da Silva, 200

            4150-483 PORTO

Two independent sections: "Ala Sul" ("South Wing"), with authentic rooms dating back to the hotel's foundation, offers lower prices than the recently renovated "Ala Norte" ("North Wing").

HOTEL FÉNIX PORTO (****)

            https://www.hfhotels.com/pt/hoteis/hf-fenix-porto-pt/

            Rua Gonçalo Sampaio, 282

It is part of the same complex as Tuela, with a little extra luxury and the possibility of renting studios with kitchen.

HOTEL IPANEMA (****)

            https://hf-ipanema-porto-hotel.at-hotels.com/pt/

            Rua do Campo Alegre, 156

            4150-169 PORTO

Not to be mistaken with the Hotel Ipanema Park, belonging to the same chain and in the same street, but much further from the Faculty - unless you want to settle in a very busy 5 stars... (https://hf-ipanema-park-hotel-porto.hotel-ds.com)

HOTEL DOURO (***)

            http://www.hoteldouro.pt/pt

            Rua da Meditação, 71

            4150-487 PORTO

In the neighborhood (in fact, even next door) of one of the most famous romantic cemeteries of Porto (Cemitério de Agramonte) - hence the name of the street, Street of the Meditation, a street of funeral services (wreaths, waxes and marble makers...). The hotel has a small adjacent commercial gallery ("Península") for small purchases or quiet moments.

 HOTEL VICE-REI (***)

            https://www.hotelvicerei.com/pt/apresentacao

            Rua Júlio Dinis, 779

           4050-326 PORTO

A small, recently renovated hotel from the 1970s, a short distance from the Rotunda da Boavista and the Casa da Música, in a commercial building from the 1950s where you will find, on the first floor, one of the most famous "pastelarias" (pastry shops) in the city, Petúlia (https://www.petulia.pt/), where, according to legend, the fine ladies of Boavista would order tea in order to be served white wine.

HOTEL CASA DE VILAR (**)

            https://casa-de-vilar.norteportugal-hotels.com/en/

            Rua do Arcediago Vanzeller, 50

            4050-621 PORTO

Hotel belonging to the Catholic Church - it is a former seminary, in the same building where the Faculty of Letters was installed at the beginning of the 20th century. Now it is still a retirement home for elderly priests (enjoy breakfast with the most respectable clergy...). Completely renovated, excellent prices for very comfortable rooms.

HOTEL DA MÚSICA (****)

            https://www.hoteldamusica.com/

            Mercado do Bom Sucesso

            Largo Ferreira Lapa, 21-183

            4150-323 PORTO

Inside the old Mercado do Bom Sucesso (an old covered market), with original architecture and a very good choice of restaurants in the Market complex. Very close to the roundabout/Rotunda da Boavista and the Casa da Música.
